'Bedurulanka 2012' is my first fun-oriented movie

'Bedurulanka 2012' is my first fun-oriented movie

Kartikeya Gummakonda is thrilled ahead of the release of 'Bedurulanka 2012' on August 25th.

The 'RX 100' actor is now returning to the big screen with this dramedy revolving around zany characters in a village.

'Bedurulanka 2012', he says, is rich in Telugu nativity and doesn't follow a regular hero-vs-villain template.

"The characters have been established in the story in an organic manner. There are pay-offs in the climax for everything," the talented actor says. The film's humor has a philosophy underpinning.

"This is my first full-on fun-oriented movie. Many people believed in the apocalypse rumor of 2012. In a village named Bedurulanka, how common folks behaved in anticipation of the world's end is what the film is about. My character has a pretty exciting graph. The entire story takes place over a period of one month in a single village. The 'Yugantham' concept is Hollywoodian. But the fact of the matter is that the concept is not alien to us," Kartikeya says.

"The film offers novelty through boy-next-door and girl-next-door characters. That's what makes 'Bedurulanka 2012' unique," he adds, suggesting that the Clax-directed movie will hopefully prove his comedy timing.

Besides doing romantic and action hero roles, Kartikeya played negative parts in 'Gang Leader' and 'Valimai'.

"Those antagonist characters were not cardboard-ish. My character's moves drove the story in those films. I didn't play a villain who gets pounded by the hero at will, especially in Nani's film," Kartikeya ponders.

"Every journey is different. I learn constantly from my mistakes. I learn from reviews and feedback. I can confidently say that my knowledge and awareness have improved a lot since I debuted in 2018. In recent years, I have consciously slowed down. I am not accepting offers thick and fast," he adds. The 'Chaavu Kaburu Challaga' actor is aware that the Telugu audience's tastes have undergone a transformation owing to the influence of OTT movies/shows.

Starring 'DJ Tillu' fame Neha Shetty, the trailer of 'Bedurulanka 2012' will be released on August 15th. The film is produced by Ravindra Benerje Muppaneni (Benny) of National Award-winning Loukya Entertainments.
