At the trailer launch of Maa, Ajay Devgn addressed the topic of actresses who are new mothers requesting eight-hour workdays.
He said honest filmmakers would not object to this, adding that the industry is increasingly understanding and supportive of such needs.
Kajol also shared her support, saying she liked the idea of shorter working hours.
Devgn’s remarks come amid a reported fallout between actress Deepika Padukone and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Reports suggest Deepika exited the film Spirit after asking for an eight-hour shift, Rs 20 crore in fees, profit sharing, and reportedly declining to say Telugu dialogues. She was later replaced by Triptii Dimri.
Vanga indirectly responded with a cryptic tweet about actors breaching trust, hinting at private matters being leaked for publicity.
While neither Padukone nor Vanga has officially confirmed these events, the incident has reignited debates about professionalism, boundaries, and respect for women balancing work and motherhood.
