2025 Tollywood: Rs 100 Cr Grossers Still Losses

Several films released in 2025 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in gross collections, but box-office success did not translate into profits for most of them.

Out of the big earners, only Sankranthiki Vastunnaam and Mirai emerged as clear superhits, delivering solid profits to producers and distributors.

Other high-grossing films such as They Call Him OG (Rs 295.22 crore gross), Kuberaa (Rs 138.10 crore gross), and Daaku Maharaaj (Rs 126.11 crore gross) ended their theatrical runs with moderate losses, primarily due to inflated budgets and high pre-release business.

HIT: The Third Case, which collected Rs 119.48 crore gross, came close to breakeven, falling just short of profitability.

The biggest disappointments of the year were Game Changer (₹186.28 crore gross) and Hari Hara Veera Mallu (₹116.88 crore gross), both of which suffered heavy losses despite crossing the ₹100 crore gross mark.

Among the profitable ventures, Sankranthiki Vastunnaam led the chart with an impressive Rs 255.48 crore gross, followed by Mirai with Rs 144.21 crore gross, proving that controlled budgets and realistic market valuation remain key to success.

Overall, the losses were largely attributed to over-budgeting, with production costs shooting far beyond the market value of the lead actors, highlighting a growing concern for the industry despite strong gross numbers.
