2019 Roundup: Top Hits Of The Year

This year was dominated by small budget films at the box office. Only a couple of big ticket films clicked and the rest of the year belonged to medium budget and low budget films.

1) F2 - Fun and Frustration: This film was never a frustration and in fact triple fun for its distributors as it turned out to be a mammoth box office hits this year.

The film has collected over Rs. 80 Cr share and has been the biggest success of the year in terms of return on investment.

2) Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy: Chiranjeevi's mega budget period-war drama has reset the records for a Non-Baahubali film in Telugu markets.

The film was released in multiple languages, but didn't fare well elsewhere. The film has fulfilled the dream of Megastar to essay the role of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.

3) Maharshi: A big film releasing during peak summer season draws more attendance than usual.

Maharshi made the most of summer vacations and turned out to be highest grossing film in Mahesh's career.

4) iSmart Shankar: Talk about bounce backs and Puri Jagannadh must be the master at it. No one has ever expected Puri to bounce back after seeing his recent works, but Puri had done it again and how?

iSmart Shankar has set the box office on fire giving the biggest hit for Ram who proved his mettle as a mass hero.

5) Majili: A decent family drama with sports backdrop benefited mostly because of releasing early in summer.

Real life couple Chay and Sam teaming up was it main USP and Samantha's superb performance played major role in the success of Majili.

It eventually became the highest grossing movie in Chay's career.

6) Prathi Roju Pandage: The film is currently on a rampage at the box office. It has totally dominated the Telugu box office right from its day 1 and is set to become a super hit.

The film has once again shown the capabilities of Maruthi as a director who knows the pulse of audience and has reinstated the market of Sai Dharam Tej.

7) Jersey: Jersey is definitely the best movie of the year, but it didn't have those elements that can woo the masses. It had to rely on A centers and multiplex crowds to be a commercial hit.

It's business was also affected to an extent by Kanchana 3 that also released on the same day.

8) Oh Baby: Samantha has shown her crowd pulling power with Oh Baby, which struck a chord with the family audiences.

An official remake of Korean fantasy comedy Miss Granny, the film has made handsome profits for its makers.

9) Agent Sai Srinivasa Atreya: It is the biggest surprise hit of the year. Naveen Polishetty's flawless performance and Swaroop's superb direction made this small budget movie a crowd pleaser.

It has earned very good profits both at the box office and through non-theatrical avenues.

10) Brochevarevarura: This is yet another surprise hit of the year proving content is the King.

A lot of credit for the film's success will go to Vivek Atreya who has penned a solid script and pulled it off in an expert fashion.
