Old Songs Bill for MSG Costs a Bomb

Old Songs Bill for MSG Costs a Bomb

Using popular old songs from the 1980s and 1990s has become a growing trend in films today.

Recently, in K-Ramp, the makers used the classic song “Idemitamma Maya Maya” from Rajasekhar’s earlier film Aayudham.

Interestingly, the song was not chosen for its expected impact but simply because the rights were available at a low cost.

Ironically, it went on to become the biggest highlight of the film and played a key role in changing its overall momentum.

In Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, the makers required a love track that worked in three languages using the same tune.

In the past, composer Ilaiyaraaja often composed the same melody in multiple languages, and many of his hit songs exist in both Tamil and Telugu.

For this reason, the team chose the song “Sundari… Neney Nuvvanta” from Dalapathi, composed by Ilaiyaraaja. In addition to this, a few more old songs were used at different points in the film.

As a result, the makers had to pay a substantial amount to audio companies for the rights to use these songs.

It is said that nearly ₹1 crore was spent in total just to include these classic tracks as short musical bits throughout the movie.

For Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, the use of old songs has clearly worked in its favour. The nostalgic music has added strong value to the film.

In particular, when Venkatesh dances to “Ramma Chilakamma,” audiences are responding with loud whistles and cheers.

All things considered, the makers feel that spending a crore on these songs was completely worth it.
