There is talk going on that Balakrishna is expecting a ministry in the alliance government, but Chandrababu Naidu is not showing any inclination for reasons that are not clear.
In fact, Balakrishna has been a formidable MLA from Hindupur for several terms, and so far, a cabinet rank has never been given to him. He has limited himself to being an MLA all these years.
However, inside sources say that Balakrishna was not so eager for a ministry earlier. But these days, after seeing Nagababu becoming an MLC for no apparent reason and Pawan Kalyan directly becoming Deputy CM by winning as an MLA for the first time, Balakrishna feels that he too deserves a ministry.
Above all, when he felt he was not being respected by his own party, his name being mentioned only in the 9th position in the list of film celebrities, he began feeling that being a minister at least once in life does hold some value.
It seems that Balakrishna is now also comparing himself with Chiranjeevi, who served as Union Minister for Tourism in the previous Congress government.
Sources from the TDP office say that he is aiming for a significant portfolio in the cabinet and also wishes that people from the film industry approach the government through him, rather than through Pawan Kalyan, for any issues.
His entire mood appears to be driven by self-identity, esteem and respect within the party more than anything else.
It remains to be seen how Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh, and his own family members will respond to this.
