The last few months have gone quiet but before that there was one official who became the cynosure of media eyes. He is the CBI Joint Director Lakshminarayana. He looked to me like a man on mission and as he took up the case of Y S Jagan and the financial embezzlement issues, things and the political dynamics of Andhra Pradesh have taken few interesting turns. And now, JD has been transferred.
I have been hearing that JD is a good man and he should not be transferred. They say he is an honest and brave man. All that may be acceptable but my point is, why JD should not be transferred. The logic is simple, JD has done his job as CBI director for 7 years which in itself is more than required at a particular designation. The very concept of transfers has a special purpose. The chances are that officials increase their local grip by staying at a place for longer time.
And knowingly or unknowingly a biased view would develop and the person can start doing personal favors. This is the reason a government makes it a point to transfer officials and officers. They want the officials to focus on their job with due diligence and not impart favoritism on the area or its people, that is the idea. JD is being called good means he should be good to all and deliver justice in all aspects.
But here he seems to have come on only one mission and that is targeting only Jagan and his camp. It is also looking clear that he is working on someone's behest and directions of a government machinery rather than a dutiful employee who is out to curb corruption and catch the wrongdoers. My point is, it is all about how the system should function and what is the purpose of an official getting transferred at regular intervals. If one has to go by the law then how can JD be an exception? One has to adhere to the law before thinking or judging about a government official’s presence.
