Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam in Dallas - an Epical success

The Devotees of Lord Tirupati Venkateshwara in Dallas, got a rare opportunity of having an auspicious Darshan of the Lord in their own town.

Following instructions by the Hon'ble CM of Andhra Pradesh Jagan Mohan Reddy to conduct Kalyanam Mahotsavam in cities across the USA, the Hon’ble Chairman of TTD Y.V. Subba Reddy, travelled along with the Lord along with his team of Veda Pandits from Tirupati, to conduct Kalyana Mahotsavam across the USA.

This initiative gained significance in the wake of 2 years of COVID-19 pandemic and devotees longing to have Darshan of Lord Tirupati Balaji. Several Hindu Community Organizations have come forward to host the event and utilize the opportunity to serve the Lord by providing logistics in their respective cities for Kalyanam and Darshanam of Lord Sri Venkatesha.

While all the rituals are conducted by priests from Thirumala Tirupati Devasthanam in coordination with Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRT) and the local Hindu and Telugu Community organizations in respective cities.

As part of the schedule, Dallas is one of the cities where the event was to be held.

The vibrant city of Dallas has a huge population of Telugu besides Tamil and Kannada population from the neighboring states of the Telugu speaking city of Tirupati, where the Lord is residing on his 7 hills, who are devout devotees of the Lord, and the city of Dallas welcomed the decision.

Given the auspicious and devotional nature of the event and the size of devotees in Dallas, it needed a mighty organization and able organizers, and Telangana Peoples Association of Dallas came forward to conduct the event. Telangana Peoples Association of Dallas has established its credentials as a mighty organization to conduct events of large scale through celebration of Bathukamma and Dasara, every year.

On 25th June, TPAD conducted Swamivari Kalyanam in a glorious way. It was quite a spectacle to watch the Lord's Kalyanam rituals conducted auspiciously and with utmost devotion.

The Mammoth and beautiful Mandapam which was erected at the Stadium was specially made for the Lord's Kalyanam, was a spectacle to watch.

The Mandapam was newly procured from India for the Lord's Kalyanam, and it showed the devotion of the Organizers of TPAD, to conduct Lord's Kalyanam in a newly made Mandapam Structure.

The Lord seated on a high pedestal provided a good view of the Lord to the devotees and the displays provided across the stadium gave visual treat to the devotees.

The venue of the Lord's Kalyanam was a huge stadium with galleries able to accommodate over 8000 people and another 1,000 on the floor of the stadium. Devotees poured in like an ocean and the galleries filled and the arena's parking garages filled, and overflowing cars were directed to surrounding parking facilities. The arena's management had to turn down entry to thousands of devotees as it filled to its capacity.

Handling such a massive turn out of devotees would be a challenge to any organization, but not for the seasoned organizers of TPAD.

The series of rituals of the Lord were conducted by the Veda Pandits, with auspicious Vedic chanting.

The chanting filled the stadium with vibrations from the energy of the sounds of the chants and the gaps between ceremonies filled with music and songs singing the glory of the lord. The seamless flow and coordination were evident for the detailed planning that the TPAD organizers put.

The logistics of conducting the Mahotsavam were a smooth affair without any sign of chaos or any chance for stampede, which tend to happen when there is such a huge turn out and every one is longing to have Darshan and blessings of the Lord.

Every devotee was served with Tirupati Laddu Prasadam and Maha Prasadam which was provided by Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple Volunteers.

MVV Satyanarayana (MP of Vizag), Dr Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad (YLP) Chairman of AP official Language Commission, Amarnath Reddy ZP Chairman (Cudapah), Mahasamudram Gnanendar Reddy (Ex MP of Chittoor), Medapati Venkat Reddy (APNRT Chairman), Rathnakar Pandugayala (Special Representative for North America) were present for Srivari Kalyana Mahotsavam were present on the occasion.

Sridhar Reddy Korsapati (NATA President) facilitated the hosting of the event in Dallas by coordinating with TTD and APNRT.

The whole event was supported by TPAD and other local volunteers, with responsibilities entirely carried out by the seasoned TPAD Volunteers lead by Raghuveer Bandaru who designed the whole execution and laid out a plan of action for the entire team steered by Ram Annadi, Ashok Kondala, Madhavi Sunkireddy, Indu Pancherupula, Ramana Lashkar. TPAD’s senior leader Ajay Reddy monitored and supervised the team.

The devotees felt blessed for the opportunity to take Darshan of the Lord in their own city and in such a hassle-free manner. They commended the seamless execution of the whole event and hope to witness TTD Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam in Dallas in the future.
