Opinion: We need Amitabhs and Nanas in Parliament!

The jazz about India being the potential superpower of the future and showing huge potential for foreign investments and great infrastructure is all but a myth, or turning out to be one. The prime culprit for that is the government and its pathetic situation. Riddled by scams and shameless corruption scandals, it is a disgrace for a party like Congress to be heralded as the largest and historic political unit.

This got me to think why does it cause so much hysteria and commotion when someone like Arvind Kejriwal decides to shout on the streets. Yes, he is charged with allegations of nurturing a political ambition but let’s face it, Kejriwal is the disheartened voice of the common man vexed with a system that shows no care for its people. In a way, Kejriwal can be compared to Amitabh Bachchan onscreen of the 70s and 80s or the mad Nana Patekar of the 90s.

But what is wrong in being angry? Is this not democracy? Doesn’t the common man have a voice? Because Kejriwal is expressing his opinions fearlessly and venting out the woes of a middle class Indian society, does he become the enemy of the state?  That’s atrocious. I strongly believe the likes of Kejriwal are the need of the hour to sit in the parliament. It pains to see even the opposition to dance to the tunes of the ruling government.

The Coalgate scam has revealed how both sides are working hand in glove and sucking the nation and its people of its deserved riches. The final nail in the head is hit when so much is happening and not an inch of justice happens. The corrupt crooks are roaming scot-free and the victims are simply left with frustration. So, if Kejriwal wants to join politics, so be it. If he is called a madman for voicing out the truth in a coarse manner, so be it. Unless the likes of Amitabhs, Nana Patekars, Kejriwals enter the parliament, this country cannot be saved...not even by God.
