Recession is by now a forgotten event that had left shoppers and diners counting pennies, staying away from malls and hotels. But what’s with our star pubs that still appear to be recession-struck. Take for instance, Taj Krishna’s Ahala.
Last week, the high-end pub with an impressive decor had only cushions sitting on its lavish sofas. Yes, there were a couple of bartenders juggling bottles smartly, but no customers enjoying their cocktails. But it wasn’t that the pub was missing patrons because when a few of them finally walked in, the bartenders did not exactly spring into action to serve the rare guests in their midst. They took their own time to take orders and much longer to serve. Is the hotel really interested in keeping its pub alive or was it a rare day of indifference? While we have no answers yet, guess it’s time to hardsell evenings at the star pub.
