A night that unveiled some electrifying moments. A modest 8000 people who braved against all odds of cold front. A connoisseur of fans thronged to watch music at its best in Dallas, TX on October 6th, 2012. The night came to life with Shreya Ghoshal who set Dallas ablaze with her sizzling and rocking performance and soared the temperatures.
All roads led to Garland Curtis Caldwell Center where over 8000 people assembled to see musical magic blooming. The event was organized by India Association of North Texas (IANT) in conjunction with Texas Indo-Physicians Society (TIPS).
The torch bearers who led this opulent event were Dr. Sridhar Reddy Korsapati - President, IANT and Dr. Srinivas Gunukula - President, TIPS. A highly dedicated team worked round the clock to make this performance - grandiose.
The stalwarts from various disciplines and from different parts of America gathered at an event highly organized and personally attended to ensure utmost satisfaction. IANT which organizes Gandhi peach walk each year saw members over 600 people participate in the morning to spread non-violence and non-discrimination the two mantras of Mahatma Gandhi.
IANT kicked off the Golden Jubilee celebrations with Gandhi Peace walk at the surroundings of the event center, where City of Garland Mayor Pro Tem Mr. John Willis was the grand marshal. TIPS also arranged a medical education seminar with more than 100 physicians attending laid down some important tips of leading a healthy life.
Ms. Ann Mukherjee (also called Corn Queen) Senior Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer of Frito-Lay America (a division of PepsiCo) spoke at the Golden Jubilee business seminar forum hosted by IANT/TIPS and attended by many Entrepreneurs & IT professionals and shared her insights on how to stay motivated and be inspired during the tough economic climate. Later in the day Ms. Ann Mukherjee was seen mingling jovially with the audience and declared she is one of the biggest fan of Shreya Ghoshal in the contemporary times.
The City Mayor of Garland Mr. Ron Jones officially declared (approved by the Garland city council) October 6th, 2012 as Indian Association of North Texas day which is celebrating 50 years of existence in the United States. Dr. Sridhar Reddy Korsapati beaming with pride thanked each and every one present in the center for making the event a memorable one. He later thanked all the sponsors, and the paparazzi for embracing such a magna opus event.
Later Dr. Srinivas Gunukula outlined and emphasized the service that TIPS has been doing in the state of Texas. Ms. Shabnam Motgill, Chair Board of Trustees of IANT organized the proceedings on stage. Hon’ble Con. Gen. of Houston Harish Parvathaneni congratulated the organizers on behalf of Ms. Nirupama Rao (ambassador of India to the US) and his staff from Houston for conducting an extravagant event of this size.
Shreya Ghoshal later ushered a mystifying musical journey that lasted well over 3 hours and the audience kept asking for more. There was no person left who wasn't cheering the songs that kept them asking for more. Her choice of songs languidly moved at a pace that ensured the crowd was involved and enjoying her presence. Her songs included from the 50’s to the latest “Chikni Chameli”. The live band was proportionately at their best. Shreya then quickly moved to regional songs and rendered few Telugu songs leading to reverberation of the entire center, which made her to believe that she was in mini-Hyderabad (in her words). She involved the audience by making them sing in regular intervals. The audience truly believed that she is the best performer of the current times.
Dr. Sridhar Reddy Korsapati later in his thank you note assured IANT will always work towards the welfare of the Indian Community in DFW and be in the service of Indians in Dallas. He wholeheartedly thanked FunAsia for their ardent support to IANT and proclaimed due to its media power the event went to a sold-out situation. The crowd later left the center with utmost satisfaction and an enchantment from Shreya Ghoshal that was beyond human imagination.
