If historical facts and reports from old engineers are to be believed, Hyderabad was a city of lakes and it stood almost second to the city of Udaipur, which is still known as the city of lakes. However, thanks to encroachment, real estate aggression etc, there is hardly any water body left.
The only visible water body within the city is now the Hussain Sagar lake. As such, even that has been reduced to half its size thanks to encroachments once again. But the biggest concern which is emerging right now is the smell from the lake. It is heard that Hussain Sagar is emitting a stinking smell.
Many are saying “During the time of Chandrababu Naidu it was good, to an extent it was also okay during YSR time good but now it is worse. No one can relax near the lake during evenings or have a bite at the restaurants or the eating joints by the lakeside.” It is time for the HMDA officials to do something then.
