Hyderabad Techie couple, son found dead

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a techie couple killed their three-year-old son before committing suicide at their house in Nizampet near Kukatpally on Sunday evening.

T L S V Rama Rao, 32, a software engineer with IBM at Hi-Tec City, hung himself with a sari from the ceiling fan in the bedroom, while his wife Neelima too committed suicide by hanging herself with a cable wire in another room in their flat at Sai Residency Apartment in Nizampet. Their son’s (Nitish) body was found in the bedroom on the cot.

Police suspect Neelima, who was with Satyam Computers till recently, might have first committed suicide and Rao followed her after killing his son either by smothering or poisoning him to death. Rama Rao married Neelima of Narsapuram in West Godavari district nearly five years ago.

The suicide pact came to light on Monday when the family did not respond to the calls of the milkman, CPDCL personnel and the watchman. Neighbours grew suspicious and called up Rao’s parents in Eluru, who requested one of their relatives in KPHB, to go and visit the family.

“As there was no response from the family till 9.30 am, the relative along with neighbours called up police. We force opened the door and found the couple and their boy dead in the house,” Dundigal inspector C Ramachandrudu said.

Police found three suicide notes written in Telugu, English and a Rs 25,000 ICICI Bank cheque signed by Rao in favour of his father Ramachandraiah on the dining table.

“One of them was a joint suicide note. In the second one, both of them wrote separately on the two sides of the paper addressing their parents and the third one was written by Rao,” the inspector said.

The content was similar in all the letters. According to police, Rao wrote that he was committing suicide due to financial issues and asked his parents to take care of Neelima and Nitish.

In her note, Neelima mentioned that she had not been able to lead a happy marital life with her husband and was committing suicide as she could not become neither a good wife nor a good daughter-in-law.

Police suspect that the couple had a long verbal duel before committing suicide and the three letters might have been written between 2.30 pm and 4.10 pm on Sunday. A case was registered under section 174 (Suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
