Dr. Kalam floors Indian American community of Greater Washington DC, unveils new roadmap to Indian renaissance

Mohan Bhupatiraju, Founder and President of Care IT Services Inc, Raj Gowlikar, Founder and President of Paradise Biryani Pointe proudly hosted Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in an exclusive interactive event in Virginia.

Former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam called for direct participation by the Indian American community in the development juggernaut of India, exhorting them to become active partners and not remain silent contributors.

“You can become a partner in the development of your motherland through the knowledge and the experience that you have gained in USA. Carve out an area in which you have passion for and would like to contribute,” he told a large gathering of Indian American community members of the Greater Washington DC area here.

Care IT Services and Paradise Biryani Pointe was privileged to launch his new book "Squaring the Circle - Seven steps to Indian Renaissance" here at the event. The book, a compendium of his dialogue series with long term associate and scientist, Mr.Arun Tiwari, showcases a seven-step roadmap to an Indian renaissance.

Addressing a 1000+ strong audience, Dr, Kalam said evolution of sustainable systems which act as “enablers” and bring inclusive growth and integrated development were the need of the hour in rural India.

“Enterprises, academic institutions and business units from across the world can share their core competencies to harness the resources of untapped rural and suburban regions and also lead to human development.”

Dr. Kalam listed five core areas where the Indian American community could play a constructive role in India - agriculture and food processing, education and healthcare, Information and communication technology, power, transport and infrastructure and critical technologies.

“These areas are where India is seeking self-reliance. They are inter-related and can eventually pave the way for food, economic and national security.”

Dr. Kalam floored the Indian community members predominantly from the IT corridor of Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland and their America born children with his humility and inspired presence. Hosts also organized a separate event for the local youth to participate in an interactive session with Dr. Kalam.

Dr. Rajan Natarajan, the first Indian-born American to become Maryland’s Deputy Secretary of State for Policy and External Affairs presented a citation from Governor of Maryland Martin O’ Malley to Dr. Kalam. 

Mohan Bhupatiraju, Shailaja Gowlikar and Raj Gowlikar, thanked the organizing committee members, Virginia franchise owners and  coordinators: Jata Vishubhatla, Satish Maram, Srinivas Kothuri, Krishna Pendyam, and Ajay Kakarlapudi.
