The Hurun India Rich List 2025 has crowned Juhi Chawla as India’s richest actress, with an estimated net worth of ₹7,790 crore.
According to the list, her wealth surpasses that of several top Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, and Hrithik Roshan; an achievement that highlights her success well beyond the silver screen.
Juhi Chawla made her Bollywood debut in 1986 with Sultanat, but it was the 1988 blockbuster Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, opposite Aamir Khan, that turned her into a household name.
She went on to dominate the 1990s with a string of hit films, becoming especially known for her bubbly screen presence and impeccable comic timing.
Beyond acting, Juhi ventured into film production by co-founding Dreamz Unlimited with Shah Rukh Khan and director Aziz Mirza.
The banner produced films such as Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), Asoka (2001), and Chalte Chalte (2003). Despite the star power involved, all three films failed at the box office, leading to the company’s closure.
Following the birth of her son in the early 2000s, Juhi stepped back from regular film work and became highly selective about her projects.
Her last theatrical release was Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019), and she later appeared in Netflix productions Friday Night Plan and The Railway Men in 2023.
While her acting career remains celebrated, films are no longer the primary source of her wealth.
A major turning point came in 2008, when Juhi co-acquired the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) along with her husband Jay Mehta and Shah Rukh Khan for ₹600 crore.
Although the team struggled in its early seasons, KKR went on to win IPL titles in 2012, 2014, and 2024, emerging as one of the league’s most successful franchises.
According to Financial Express, KKR’s 2024 victory boosted its valuation to around ₹9,000 crore, significantly adding to Juhi Chawla’s net worth.
Juhi’s husband, Jay Mehta, is the Executive Chairman of Saurashtra Cement Limited, a major player in India’s cement industry.
Together, the couple has made extensive investments in real estate across India and abroad. They live in a sea-facing residence in Mumbai’s upscale Malabar Hills.
Juhi has also diversified into the hospitality sector, owning two restaurants in Mumbai; a premium Lebanese restaurant, Rue du Liban in Kala Ghoda, and an Italian café, Gustoso, in Bandra.
Through smart investments, business acumen, and strategic partnerships, Juhi Chawla has built a financial empire that goes far beyond her acting career; making her India’s richest actress today.
