The event saw over 4000 people thronging to celebrate Bathukamma (festival of life). The event center was Plano Amphi-Theatre Park where hundreds of women brought Bathukamma adorned with beautiful flowers and unique themes. Bathukamma chair Ms. Indu Mandadi along with Ms. Shyamala Rumala organized best decorated Bathukamma competitions needless to say the organizers had tough time selecting the best Bathukamma. Women were seeing dancing to the mellifluous song of “Bathukamma Bathukamma Uyyalo” on the vast stage. Later women took out a grand procession and immersed the Bathukammas in the nearby rivulet. Jammi Pooja was organized and hundreds of volunteers thronged and carried the Pallaki with “Jai Mata Di” reverberating the atmosphere.
Dasara Veshalu was organized for children by kicking-off the cultural program. Mr. Raghuveer Bandaru in his opening remarks thanked the people for continuing the tradition all these years and thanked the sponsors for being part of the biggest Bathukamma-Dasara festival in North America. Mr. Mahesh Adibhatla, cultural chair organized the cultural proceedings along with famous anchor Ms. Udaya Bhanu and Mr. Ramesh Gattu. The local participants enthralled the people with their Telangana folk performances, flash-mob (first of its kind) and, vocal performances. Famous music director and singer M.M.Srilekha and singer Revanth mesmerized the audience with their foot-tapping numbers. The audience kept asking for more and more. There were fireworks for the first time and the people thoroughly enjoyed the proceedings. Chief Guest Retd. Supreme Court Justice Hon. Sudarshan Reddy spoke about the importance of Telangana culture and the festive importance of Bathukamma.
Mr. Raghuveer Bandaru later recognized many organization representatives such as TANTEX president Ms. Geeta Dammanna, IANT President Dr. Sridhar Korsapati, ATA regional coordinator Mr. Arvind Reddy, NATS BOD Mr. Vijay Velamuri.
Under the leadership of Mr. Raghuveer Bandaru many committee members and volunteers worked tirelessly to name a few – Ms. Indu Mandadi, Ms. Shyamala Rumala, Ms. Anita Danda, Mr. Mahesh Adibhatla, Mr. KC Chekuri, Mr. Arvind Reddy, Mr. Upender Telugu, Mr. Pavan Gangadhara, Mr. Ram Annadi, Mr. Praveen Arkala, Mr. Praveen Billa, Mr. Satish Punnam, Mr. Janakiram Mandadi, Mr. Raghu Chittimalla, Mr. Pavan Nellutla, Mr. Venkat Danda, Mr. Srinivas Kuthuru, Mr. Chandra Bandar, Ms. Reena, Ms. Sharada Singireddy, Mr. Balki Chamkura, Mr. Thirumala Reddy and made the event the most memorable one till date.
