This was one prophecy of Sathya Sai Baba that went off the mark. Baba, who is widely believed to be the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba, had declared in 1963 that he would leave his physical body at the age of 96 and would be reborn as “Prema Sai” in Mandya district of Karnataka ten years later.
But, the renowned Godman could not live up to his prediction and breathed his last on Sunday at the age of 85. Millions of devotees across the world see him as the incarnation of God.
He had revealed that the Sai avatar was a triple incarnation of Shiva-Shakti principle. Shiva as Shirdi Saibaba, Shiva and Parvati embodied as Sri Satya Saibaba and the Shakti principle would incarnate as `Prema Sai' who would be his natural successor. Some devotees even believe that Baba would be resurrected on the third day of his demise, just like the Christians' faith about the resurrection of Jesus.
