Auto vs Bike: Who Really Makes More Money?

Auto vs Bike: Who Really Makes More Money?

Ola and Uber bikes have become a popular choice for quick and cheap travel, especially for office-goers and students. But when it comes to earnings, who takes home more money every month; an auto driver or a bike taxi rider?

YouTuber Ankur Warikoo recently compared both incomes after speaking to a Delhi auto driver with 15 years of experience, and the numbers were eye-opening.

An average auto driver completes about 15 rides a day; regular trips, airport drops, and shared rides; earning around ₹2,510 daily or nearly ₹75,300 a month. After expenses like CNG, app charges, and maintenance, his take-home income is about ₹53,800 per month.

A bike taxi rider usually finishes around 22 rides a day, making roughly ₹1,430 per day or ₹42,900 a month. But once petrol, platform fees, and maintenance are deducted, the final income drops to just ₹25,650 per month.

The gap is huge: auto drivers earn almost ₹20,000 more every month.

While bike taxis help riders cut through traffic easily, their earnings remain low due to single-passenger trips, high fuel costs, and heavy commissions.

Autos, with cheaper CNG and the ability to take multiple passengers and long airport rides, clearly come out on top when it comes to monthly income.
