It is often noticed that whenever there are Jokes on radio and TV there are claps and whistles happening constantly. While one might be surprised, many know the actual truth that all these are just artificial laughs and claps. There is a term called ‘sweetening’ for this process. They do this to create an entertaining atmosphere.
Those who are behind this say “Even during entertainment shows Indians don’t clap and half the time, the MCs and anchors are requesting audience to clap. But for some reason, Indians are just not keen to cheer up or be active participants during such lively events when they are spectators. This is common when the audiences are of hi class society.”
They add “So now, a new program is being made with which artificial claps and whistles can be heard. The Americans applaud without hesitation in their shows but Indians don’t do that and they need artificial stimulation. At least with that artificial simulation like in laughing clubs, audiences tend to get into entertainment mood and get into clapping”.
