A 56-year-old man was stunned when he was asked to prove he was over 18 when buying beer and tobacco in London.
A balding Vic Anderson had used the store for 23 years and was one of several older customers who fell foul of the company’s new ‘No ID, no sale’ policy. He said, “I don’t carry ID as I’m 56 and I know half the staff. There was a long queue behind me and I was really embarrassed. The manager eventually came over and told the staffer it was okay.” A spokesman for the store in Dorset said that feedback to the policy had been positive.
