Youth, Settlers Voted Out Cong In Telangana!

Young voters and Seemandhra settlers are responsible for the debacle of the Congress party in Telangana region despite granting separate statehood to the region.

This was the explanation given by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Laxmaiah to the party high command on Thursday.

Ponnala met party president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi, general secretary Digvijay Singh and former Union minister Vayalar Ravi and submitted a report to them on the performance of the party in the general elections to Lok Sabha and Assembly.

Ponnala reportedly told Sonia that the Congress party could not attract the new and young voters of Telangana, who had largely favoured the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. These sections were given the impression that the Centre had granted Telangana only because of the struggle waged by the TRS.

Similarly, ‘settlers’ in Hyderabad and Rangareddy had voted for Telugu Desam party, in protest against the bifurcation.
