Will Mirchi Yard Be New Capital's Secretariat?

Will Mirchi Yard Be New Capital's Secretariat?

Efforts are on to realize the plan of Andhra Pradesh CM Chandra Babu Naidu, who had earlier claimed that he would shift the entire machinery of his government to Vijayawada-Guntur by next April.

In the past too, officials toured the region and a committee of officers had suggested their recommendations. But those suggestions did not materialize.

Ever since Chandra Babu made the latest statement, once again, a lot of activity has been going on in the area.

Once again, a group of officers surveyed the area and they proposed that the government can use the Mirchi Yard in Guntur as a temporary set-up for the Secretariart.

According to government engineers, the Yard has 2 lakh sq km that can be used for the temporary set-up.

Well, did Chandra Babu mean the same when he had said that he would run his offices from temporary sheds?

Since the new capital will come in Guntur, will these latest recommendations by officials be implemented?

While the activity is on in Guntur, the Secretariat employees in Hyderabad who will eventually move to Andhra are not particularly happy about the new set-up. They are questioning as to how they can perform their duties sitting in make-do sheds?

The Secretariat employees’ union president Murali Krishna has said that they would oppose the move.
