The sudden transfer of Telangana intelligence chief B Sivadhar Reddy and posting him in a non-focal position of IG (Personal) in the office of DGP has raised many an eyebrow.
Sivadhar Reddy, who was Visakhpatnam police commissioner till the formation of Telangana state, is a hard core Telanganite and had a lot of sympathy towards Telangana movement.
After the Telangana Rashtra Samithi came to power, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao chose him as his intelligence chief and he has been holding the post with aplomb.
He was responsible for the Nayeem encounter and also in breaking the cash-for-vote scam that fetched a lot of mileage for KCR.
So, at a time when everybody thought Sivadhar Reddy was KCR’s right hand, his sudden transfer came as a surprise.
Though official sources say he was shifted from the post on his own request because of work pressure, the gossip doing rounds in the media circles is that Reddy was shunted out of the Intelligence chief post only because of his overenthusiasm in the cash-for-vote case.
Apparently, he had all the evidence against AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and was firm on exposing the same. This was not taken kindly by KCR and hence, he has shifted Reddy to a non-focal post and brought in a relatively softer officer Naveen Chand.
