Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has had a long stint in the state politics for nearly 40 years. So, it is better he moves to the Centre, leaving the field to the younger generation.
This suggestion has come not from the people but from his own party leaders. In fact, Naidu has claimed several times that he has rejected the golden offer of becoming Prime Minister of India in 1997 itself since his focus was on developing the state.
Now, he cannot even dream of becoming the PM since Narendra Modi is growing stronger.
So, the only option left for Naidu is to apply for the President’s post. Former minister TDP’s Rajya Sabha member T G Venkatesh said there was no better candidate than Naidu to become the President of India.
“He is a worthy candidate for the President’s post,” he said.
He suggested that Chandrababu Naidu become the President of India and hand over the state responsibility to his son Nara Lokesh.
“The chief minister has the capabilities to become President and even develop the state to a tremendous extent,” TG said during his visit to Tirumala.
The TDP MP further stated that he had recommended many names for the Prime Minister and President posts who have later went on to take those positions but he asserted that if Chandrababu becomes President, he would remain in the history as he would be the unanimously elected president other than a couple of opposition parties.
