Tollywood Threat Jolts KCR?

The threat by the Tollywood big stars, directors and producers that they would shift their base to Visakhapatnam if the Telangana government does not stop targeting the film personalities over the drug racket seems to have had its impact on chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

KCR, who held a review of the ongoing investigation into the drug racket, made it clear that the intention of the drive was not to target the film industry but to make the state drug-free.

“We are just questioning the film personalities based on the information obtained from the drug peddlers arrested in the last few weeks. That does not mean all those who were questioned are the accused. There is absolutely no threat to the film industry,” he clarified.

Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav also said that film personalities need not worry about the implications of drugs case on the industry.

He blamed the previous regimes for the existence of drugs mafia and their network in the Telangana State.

He said that industry was not dependent on 12 film personalities who were quizzed by the Special Investigation Team of Excise Department.

He said that the State Government would extend all support to the film industry. He said that the drugs case did not affect the image of Brand Hyderabad as it was on its way to become drugs free city.

The minister informed that the State Government would soon conduct a meeting with important film personalities to discuss steps to be taken to curb drugs menace.
