Telangana Rashtra Samithi leadership has once again proved that it gives more importance to defectors from other parties than those who had strived hard for the party and Telangana movement for the last one decade.
On Monday, the TRS leadership unanimously elected former Medak MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao as the president of its GHMC unit.
Transport Minister Mahender Reddy conducted the election process at TRS Bhavan here on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali proposed Hanumantha Rao’s name while ministers Padma Rao Goud and Talasani Srinivas Yadav supported him. With this, Rao replaced Excise Minister T. Padma Rao Goud.
Hanumantha Rao, who had spit venom against the TRS when he was in the Telugu Desam Party and was a bitter rival of KCR’s nephew T Harish Rao, defected to the TRS before last elections. Apparently, he is said to be the one of the biggest fund raisers for the TRS.
Hanumantha Rao extended thanks to KCR for giving him an opportunity to head the party under GHMC limits, which is heading for fresh elections.
"I will take this responsibility with coordination of all others in the party to ensure that TRS Flag is hoisted on the GHMC," he said.
The TRS leadership will strive for winning the GHMC elections to come to power, Rao maintained. Hyderabad will become a global city soon under KCR leadership, he said. He sought cooperation of people to develop Hyderabad to witness rapid growth in the days to come.
