Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy, who resigned from the Telugu Desam Party and also his assembly membership to join the Congress, continues to be an MLA technically since his resignation has not yet reached the assembly speaker S Madhusudhana Chary.
However, Revanth is trying to project to the people that he is no more an MLA.
He wrote to the Speaker that he had stopped availing of all facilities and benefits which he is entitled as a legislator in the Telangana Assembly.
He said he would not avail monthly salary, allowances and other perks from this month. He also requested the Secretary to cancel the quarters allotted to him at the Old MLA Quarters.
Revanth also met Vikarabad Superintendent of Police (SP) and requested him to withdraw the security provided to him. In a quick reaction, gunmen and a security guard were withdrawn.
But the Speaker is said to be in a dilemma, since he cannot stop the allowances and perks entitled to Revanth unless he submits his resignation letter.
It is learnt the Speaker is holding consultations with legal experts whether any provisions are existing in the Assembly rules to accept Revanth’s request with immediate effect.
