Former Andhra Pradesh minister Ravela Kishore Babu, who was sacked from the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet a few months ago for his controversial actions, has been keeping away from TDP politics for quite some time.
However, on Tuesday, Ravela surprised everybody by attending the birthday function of former Congress minister and present Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kanna Lakshminarayana and spent quite some time with him. This led to the speculation that Ravela might jump into the BJP, which is trying to sever links with the TDP before the next elections.
In fact, Ravela was once a strong opponent of Kanna. When the latter joined the BJP, Ravela made strong comments against him and even stated that the TDP would have to cut off its links with the BJP, if the latter allows people like Kanna into the party. For that, he was pulled up by Naidu. Now that same Ravela had secret talks with Kanna!
Another interesting point is that Ravela also extended strong support to Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) leader Manda Krishna Madiga when the latter tried to hold a public meeting at Guntur to highlight the demand for SC categorisation. Though Manda Krishna made wild allegations against Naidu, Ravela did not condemn him.
At the same time, BJP is extending support to the SC categorisation issue. So, there is no surprise that Ravela is planning to shift his loyalties to the saffron party!
