Put me in jail if you can, Mudragada tells Naidu

Former minister and Kapu strongman Mudragada Padmanabham has dared Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to put him in jail or even hang him, but asserted that he would not withdraw his plan to take out the padayatra.

Mudragada, who was kept under house arrest by the East Godavari police at Kirlampudi, was allowed to talk to media on Friday evening. He took the opportunity to attack the Naidu government for obstructing his peaceful protest by using the police force.

“Throw me behind bars, if you can. If you think I have committed any mistake, you can even hang me. I am not afraid. I am ready for any sacrifice,” he said.

Mudragada lashed out at the TDP leaders for making unsavoury comments against him for taking up the padayatra.

“I will take up the padaytra come what may. Will you resign if I complete my mission?” he asked the TDP leaders.

Mudragada said he would withdraw from the agitation demanding BC status for Kapus if he failed to walk the talk.

He wondered how long the so-called Manjunatha Commission would take to give the report.

“It has been three years since Naidu made the promise of providing reservatins for Kapus. It has been more than a year since the Manjunath Commission was constituted. When can my community get justice with the promised BC reservation?” he asked.

He said over the period Naidu had done nothing but say the commission would shortly submit a report. He reiterated that he would continue to strive for his community’s future and would not hesitate to make any sacrifice.
