YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been striving hard to come to power in 2019 elections, is lagging behind his arch rival Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister in one major aspect: media management.
Naidu doesn’t have his own media house, but he knows pretty well how to make use of the existing media for his political benefits. He is very strong in media management.
On the other hand, YSR doesn’t entertain the media very much just because he considers himself a media baron because of Sakshi.
He cares a damn even for the national media, leave alone the local media. As a result, he has no mechanism to condemn negative stories about his party in the other media.
Apparently, political strategist Prashant Kishor, who was hired by Jagan for working out strategies for the party’s victory in 2019 elections, has identified Jagan’s lack of media management as one of the major drawbacks.
He is learnt to have told the YSRC chief that he has to learn the tricks of the trade to reach out to the maximum number of people through effective use of media. For that, Jagan has to shed his ego and start mingling with the other media.
As part of the strategy, team members of Prashant have now started meeting select media persons to develop rapport with them. They are taking feedback from the media persons as to how to go about and asking for suggestions to improve the media relations.
May be in the coming days, Jagan will start interacting with select media persons and improve the relations with them!
