Till the last year, the Telangana activists used to target the Seemandhra leaders and also national leaders opposing the Telangana State formation; and burn their effigies on the streets.
Effigy burning was one of the major components of the agitation by the workers of Telangana Rashstra Samithi, led by K Chandrasekhar Rao.
But little did they imagine those days that the people would burn the effigies of KCR within one year and so.
On Wednesday, KCR’s effigies were burnt at several places in different parts of Hyderabad by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation workers.
The GHMC sanitary workers took up the programme in protest against the adamant attitude of the State government in resolving their issues.
When the police intervened, the striking workers had heated arguments with them. The striking employees also raised slogans like ‘KCR down down’ and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar down down’.
They alleged that the TRS government was causing arrest of the striking employees instead of solving their problems.
The GHMC workers took out a rally from RTC Crossroads to Indira Park where the leaders alleged that Chief Minister KCR was ruling the State like the erstwhile Nizam.
They pointed out that KCR, who introduced ‘She Cabs’ for women employees’ protection, was now making the police to arrest GHMC women employees.
