Naidu's power MoUs will affect Telangana

Congress MLA T Jeevan Reddy on Wednesday expressed apprehensions that the MoUs on power sector signed by Government of Andhra Pradesh with different agencies might hurt the interest of Telangana.

Speaking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Jeevan Reddy said that the MoUs clearly shows the Central Government's bias towards Telangana State.

By approving power projects of about 6500 MW for Andhra Pradesh, the Centre is making the residuary State more lucrative for investors and industries.

He said that the availability of adequate power would naturally attract the industries while leaving the neighbour in a disadvantaged position.

He feared that existing industries might shift their base from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh.

Jeevan Reddy said that while Naidu should bring development in Andhra Pradesh, he must also realise his moral responsibility towards Telangana and restrain from steps that could hurt the interests of new State.

The Congress leader accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of having failed to make proper representations with the Centre in getting new power projects for the State.

He said KCR should take the entire opposition into confidence and pressurise the Centre for more projects and funds.

He alleged that KCR has been acting more like a monarch than a public representative
