Srisailam is one of the most popular pilgrim centres not only in Andhra Pradesh, but also entire country because the temple of Bhramarambika Devi is one of the Shakti Peethams. There is no need to popularise it further; all that the government has to do create more facilities for pilgrims.
But our great chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has given a blessing to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy of Srisailam saying the latter had a very bright future.
“I have a very big plan to develop the temple and make it renowned across the world. It can attract devotees from various parts of the country and the world. I visualise a bright future for Srisailam,” he said.
It really baffled the pundits and spiritual leaders there. Who is Naidu to bless Srisailam with bright future? Well, what Naidu apparently meant was to make Srisailam a popular tourist attraction because of its hills, river and dam. And that would bring more tourist revenue to the pilgrim centre – this is his intention.
In any case, Naidu does not believe in any –isms, except tourism. And, everybody knows what kind of tourism he will encourage – star hotels, resorts, spas, amusement parks and multi-cuisine restaurants.
Boss, Srisailam is a pilgrim centre and a pious place; not a recreation centre. There is no need to develop it as an entertainment zone. Keep your great plans with you and focus on providing more amenities to pilgrims during festivals. That’s all!
