Naidu to replicate Rs 5 a meal scheme of Telangana!

Impressed with the Telangana Government’s Annapurna Rs 5 meal centres service in Hyderabad, a team of Municipal Commissioners from Andhra Pradesh are planning to commence the service in their State.

To this effect, the team met GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy here on Tuesday.

The Municipal Commissioners of Guntur, Palasa, Kurnool, Ongole and few other municipal bodies complimented the Telangana Government for the good service being extended through Annapurna centres.

During the meeting, Reddy informed the team that every year GHMC spends about Rs. 37 crore towards the subsidy offered for the Rs 5 meals, which are being provided in association with Hare Krishna Movement.

Every day, over 37,000 people, including students, marketing executives and daily workers have lunch at the 150  Annapurna centres in the city.

The Telangana Government is planning to introduce the service in Warangal in the coming days.
