Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister-designate N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday sought to run down Congress president Sonia Gandhi by raising the Telugu self-respect bogey.
He declared at TDP’s Mahanadu at Gandipet that he would take steps to build a memorial in memory of late Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao in New Delhi.
“The Congress bosses had meted out humiliation to PV, though he had resurrected the Congress party and the country’s economy. They did not allow his cremation in New Delhi and construction of any memorial for him. Since PV represents Telugu pride, we will ensure construction of memorial for him in New Delhi,” he said.
It may be mentioned that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raised the issue of humiliation meted out to PV during his pre-election speeches. And Naidu wants to take Modi’s help in restoring PV’s pride!
