Naidu-KCR truce after Modi warning?

Naidu-KCR truce after Modi warning?

The sudden bonhomie between Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be a fall out of a serious warning from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Prime Minister, who took serious note of KCR’s comment against him describing him as a “fascist,” is understood to have sent a strong message to the Telangana Chief Minister that if he did not mend ways, he would not mind imposing President’s Rule in the State.

At the same time, Modi also sent a message to Naidu that he should not take unilateral decisions that would harm interests of Telangana, since both the States are important for the BJP.

The message was passed on to Naidu and KCR through Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu recently.

It was only after that the two CMs had agreed to meet. Governor E S L Narasimhan, who got a communique from the Centre to take the initiative, had arranged the meeting to see that Naidu and KCR sink their differences, sources said.

Meanwhile, Secunderabad MP and BJP National Vice-President Bandaru Dattatreya on Monday welcomed the meeting between the two Chief Ministers.

Dattatreyya said that the both the Chief Ministers should work in close coordination to ensure the development of Telugu speaking population living in both the States.

He claimed that the meeting was conducted at the instance of the Centre. He said that BJP Government was in favour of amicable solution to the disputes between the two states.

He said instead of adopting a political approach to the contentious, both the States should believe in negotiations to seek their solution.
