Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s attempt to get biggest publicity at the international level and hog the limelight in the international media by bringing US president Barack Obama to Andhra Pradesh has fallen flat.
Though Naidu made hectic lobbying with the Centre and used his clout among the Telugus in the US to see that Obama made a visit to Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam for at least two hours, the US authorities did not entertain his attempt. Obama confined himself to only Delhi visit and had cancelled even his much-publicised Agra tour to see Taj Mahal.
In fact, Naidu was pinning many hopes on Obama visit. He had even leaked stories to his favourite media to that effect. Even media highlighted it saying Naidu, who was the first CM to get US President Bill Clinton to Hyderabad during his previous regime, has the capacity to bring Obama this time, too. And Naidu thought he would get the same kind of publicity that he had during Clinton visit. This would have helped him divert the people’s attention from burning issues. But alas! Naidu could not succeed this time.
