Modi, Money Attracting Telangana Leaders?

Modi, Money Attracting Telangana Leaders?

Though the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is comfortably placed right now with the opposition parties still in a state of inaction, several political leaders are said to be getting attracted towards Bharatiya Janata Party.

Following the recent successes of the BJP in the northern states, thanks to a strong wave of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a new hope has been generated among the leaders of Telangana that the BJP has a chance of emerging as a potential force in Telangana.

According to sources, leaders from not only the TDP and the Congress party, some disgruntled elements even from the ruling TRS are eyeing BJP.

“There is no guarantee that we will get tickets in the TRS because of huge competition. Though we are potential candidates in our own constituencies, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao will go by his own equations and considerations.

On the other hand, the BJP does not have many potential leaders. So, we have good chances of getting the tickets,” a senior TRS leader from Nizamabad said.

BJP president Amit Shah’s proposed visit to Telangana on May 25 is expected to attract a good number of leaders from other parties.

For example, in Nalgonda, there is a talk that Komatireddy brothers might jump into saffron party besides leaders like Mothkupalli Narasimhulu from the TDP.

Several other former ministers are getting feelers from the BJP leadership. Some of them have responded positively, while some others expressed apprehensions over losing their credibility among the people. However, the BJP leadership is said to be luring them with funds and projects in the near future.
