The sensational multi-crore Miyapur land scam has shaken the Telangana state politics, as it is considered to be one of the biggest scams ever surfaced in the state, if not the country.
The tremors are being felt even in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and also elsewhere in the country.
The prime accused in the scam Ponnapula Sanjeeva Prasad, better known as Goldstone Prasad, has been missing since the scam surfaced.
Prasad, a businessman from Hyderabad who was involved in major investment scams in the United States of America in the 1980s, is learnt to have got his hands on the 693 acres of government land in Miyapur.
His wife Indrani Prasad and brother P S Parthasarathi, director of Trinity Infraventures Ltd both directors of Trinity Infraventures, were arrested in the scam.
Prasad is said to have got 1000 acres land registered in the name of his wife, mother, daughter and his relatives.
Inquiries revealed that Goldstone Prasad played a very prominent role in the Telangana state formation, thanks to his connections with top level Congress leaders at the Centre.
He is said to have mediated in the negotiations between the top Telangana leaders and the Congress high command.
He is learnt to have silenced several Seemandhra leaders using his money power.
One was not aware what interest Goldstone Prasad had in brokering the deal on Telangana formation then, but now, his real intentions are coming out one after the other, say sources.
