Media's Nasty Side Pops Up Once Again

Media's Nasty Side Pops Up Once Again

It is a known fact that ex Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha has been convicted in DA case and is now serving jail sentence.

Having served as the CM many times, Jayalalitha is likely to become the first CM to be convicted and disqualified in the history of Indian republic.

Naturally, her arrest and the consequences have become a hot topic of discussion all over India and in media.

Various channels and publications are full of reports regarding the arrest and conviction of Puraatchi Thalaivi.

While there is nothing new in that, what is disturbing is the way some channels have been trying to sensationalise the whole episode.

One channel had a headline which said ‘Jaya first night in jail’.

Jayalalitha fans immediately took to streets to protest against such an indecent headline.

There is uproar among people that the media has been trying to sensationalise every bit of information instead of being committed to their primary objective of keeping the audience informed of news as and when it happens.

It is this craze to grab audiences’ interest hook or crook that has resulted in the deplorable state of affairs, feel many. It is due to such incidents that media loses its credibility.
