Never in the past might Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu have witnessed such a massive reception in his life as he did in Hyderabad on Monday.
The entire city is bedecked with hoardings, banners, cut-outs and posters welcoming Venkaiah Naidu on his first visit to the state capital after becoming the Vice President.
In fact, till last week, Venkaiah used to come to Hyderabad almost every weekend and it was from Hyderabad that he had gone to Delhi to take oath as the Vice President.
Yet, the Telangana government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao accorded him a huge felicitation to Venkaiah as if the latter was coming to Hyderabad for the first time.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has erected hoardings almost every 100 metres with the pictures of Venkaiah and KCR.
And at Raj Bhavan, Venkaiah was given the civic reception which even Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not have got in his home state of Gujarat after assuming the highest position.
KCR went out of the way to praise Venkaiah as the darling of Telugu people. Later, he hosted sumptuous lunch for the Vice President.
There is definitely something more to KCR’s out-of-the-way pampering of Venkaiah than what meets the eye. And Venkaiah claims Telangana is homeland, as he had begun his political life!
