Kapu Quota Not Before Next Elections?

Kapu Quota Not Before Next Elections?

The Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is unlikely to take a decision on Kapu reservations issue before the next elections, if the tone and tenor of the statements being made by the TDP leaders are any indication.

TDP leader and state minister for BC welfare K Atchannaidu made it clear that the decision on providing reservations to Kapus would be taken only after the submission of the Justice Manjunatha Commission report and after going through all the legal issues.

He, however, said the state government was committed to the welfare of Kapus and BCs and Kapu reservation will be provided without causing any injustice to other castes in BCs.

He criticised Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham for misleading the Kapus against the AP government and bringing pressure on the state government.

Sources said Naidu might come out with an announcement on Kapu reservations sometime at this year-end before YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s padayatra enters East Godavari district. However, the implementation would come only during the election year, sources added.
