YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is trying all tricks to attract the people and win over them by 2019 assembly elections.
While he has already become famous for aping his father late chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in dialogue and diction, he has mastered the art of attacking rival Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu in strongest words. He also started feeling the pulse of the people by directly going into the people taking up their issues.
Now, the latest strategy to be adopted by Jagan, according to sources, is sporting dhoti and kurtha during his padayatra, which he proposes to take up in the second half of this year.
It is a known fact that YSR was the most charming personality and one of the reasons why he could attract the people was his attire – dhoti and kurtha, which reflected the typical Telugu personality. All through his historic padayatra in 2003, YSR had sported only dhoti even while walking with shoes. Despite rising to the level of chief minister, he did not change his attire.
Apparently, Jagan also thinks that this attire would fetch him mileage in the next elections. All these days, he was wearing only shirt and trousers which gave him a younger look and he appeared like a kid before Naidu. If he shifts to dhoti and kurtha, he thinks it would bring him a respectable image.
