'High' Scare In Jump Jilanees In AP!

Following the recent Hyderabad High Court's direction to Telangana assembly speaker S Madhusudhana Chary to take action against the MLAs who defected to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has triggered a scare among the defected MLAs, not in Telangana, but in Andhra Pradesh.

The High Court, in fact, made serious comments against the defection of MLAs from one party to the other, without bothering about the Anti-Defection Law.

However, it does not matter much for the TDP and the Congress MLAs in Telangana, who defected to the TRS, as party president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is capable of getting all of them re-elected in the by-elections in the event of they being disqualified as per the High Court order. This is basically because the TDP and the Congress do not have the strength even now to take on the ruling TRS.

But the situation in Andhra Pradesh is different. As many as 20 MLAs have defected from YSR Congress party into the TDP, but if they happened to get disqualified as per the High Court order, almost all of them, except one or two, are sure to lose their seats.

This is basically because there is a strong anti-incumbency in the state following the denial of special category status. Secondly, there will be no help from the BJP or the Jana Sena party headed by Pawan Kalyan this time. And thirdly, they are all YSR Congress party seats and the party is gradually growing strong.

So, naturally, the High Court verdict has created a scare among the defected YSRC MLAs about their future. They are reportedly bringing pressure on Naidu to see that the judgement does not go against them.
