TPCC President, Uttam Kumar Reddy extended an assistance of Rs 5 lakhs to Radhika Vemula, the mother of Rohit Vemula.
This can only be termed as a politically motivated move. Rohit’s mother claims that she is an SC and that she raised her children as SC’s after being abandoned by her husband.
The husband (Rohit’s father) however says that he belongs to Vaddera caste (a BC community) and that Radhika Vemula is also from the same caste.
He says that although he divorced his wife, he was still in a live-in relationship with her. If what he says is true, then Rohit’s mother is guilty of falsehood.
How could Rohit get an SC certificate if he is a BC? Against this backdrop, should not one wait until the truth is ascertained? Why did Uttam Kumar Reddy have to announce the financial assistance?
One might argue that it was irrespective of caste, a generous gesture towards a woman who had lost her son but then there are so many farmers who have committed suicide in Telangana.
Why did you not think of them? Why only Rohit Vemula? Because of the tag ‘Dalit’, the bane of Indian politics.
