Can Naidu Address Media On Poll Eve?

While the Election Commission of India has issued a warning to YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for his aggressive comments against chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu during the electioneering in Nandyal, it has surprisingly not taken cognizance of the media conference held by Naidu on Tuesday evening, a few hours before the commencement of polling.

According to YSR Congress party leaders, Naidu had blatantly violated the poll code by conducting a press meet on the eve of polling where he cited the survey results and lauded the TDP's three-and-a-half-year rule.

“It was nothing but influencing the voters using wrong survey reports and boasting of big achievements like closure of belt shops,” the YSRC leaders complained.

Naidu in his press conference made several comments against Jagan and also made several tall claims.

“The Leader of the Opposition threatens to hang me and shot me and rob off my clothes and drown me in the Bay of Bengal. What kind of message is he sending to the society with such words? Several leaders in the past also hurled remarks against me. But, I never lost my temper,’’ he said.

Recalling the incident of a youth murdering a girl and her brother in Visakhapatnam for rejecting his love and later the maniac himself taking the extreme step, the Chief Minister sought to know whether Jagan was trying to install such an attitude among the public with such remarks.

“Once mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy were considered as icons, but now their history is known to all,” he said.

Explaining about the feedback got from the public through Parishkara Vedika (call centre 1100), he said there is increase in public satisfaction with regard to sand policy, liquor policy and setting up of the the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Vizag land scam.
