Call Money Racket: Top Cop Goes On Leave!

Call Money Racket: Top Cop Goes On Leave!

While the Call Money scam was rocking Vijayawada, City police commissioner Gautham Sawang is going on leave from December 17.

As soon as Gautham Sawang applied for leave,  Director General of Police J V Ramudu immediately approved his leave application in the morning and posted Surendra Babu in his place as an in-charge commissioner.

Sources said all this took place when Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was holding a meeting of district Collectors at his office where he claimed to be taking strict action against those involved in the Call Money scam.

Rumours are afloat in Vijayawada city that Gautham Sawang was going on leave due to political pressure caused by influential Call Money operators.

It is said Gautam Sawang was the man behind the exposure of Call Money scam and reportedly working to bring all the accused to book.

Official sources, however, tried to defend Sawang’s leave, saying he had applied for the leave long ago and it was granted on November 24 itself.

It is learnt that Sawang, accompanied by his family members will be visiting Australia. He will be away from duty from December 17 for a week.

Yet, Naidu should have cancelled the leave of Sawang to bring seriousness into the probe into call money racket. This gives rise to rumours that Naidu allowed the top cop to go on leave under political pressure.
