The Andhra Pradesh capital remains a huge question mark. Despite rumours about Sivaramakrishnan committee making its suggestions and hinting that either Guntur or Uttarandhra would be ideal for developing a capital city, suspense over the final destination continues.
But for any concrete steps to be taken, the Andhra Pradesh government must start thinking pro-actively and stop chasing the Singapore dream.
It must first take baby steps and make sure that their new capital city will be on par with other happening cities like Chennai and Bengaluru before thinking of coming up with a city on the lines of Singapore.
Though the state had high hopes on Centre, they are not in a position to bail out AP as other small states are demanding equal packages.
Meanwhile, AP has to deal with deficit budget. Given this background, the AP government must stop misleading people with the promise of turning AP into Singapore.
Instead of dreaming high, it would be best if they identify a city suitable for a capital city, develop it and generate employment opportunities before turning it into an enviable world-class destination.
