Aggressive YSR Congress Party MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, who does not lose any opportunity to trouble the ruling Telugu Desam Party, has been putting the government on tenterhooks for quite some by taking up the agitation over shifting of a dumping yard at C Ramapuram in Chittoor district.
For the last three days, Chevireddy has been staging a dharna along with the villagers and YSR Congress party workers of Ramapuram, on the main road, causing serious law and order issues. Finally, the police entered the scene on Friday and dispersed the agitators.
They arrested Chevireddy and confined him to a room. Along with him, 50 of his followers were also taken into custody.
The house arrest of Chevireddy gave rise to high tension in the area. Residents of C Ramapuram protested against the arrest of the YSRCP leaders and claimed that the police are working under pressure of the state government.
However, police deployed in huge numbers imposed 144 section there to disturb the gatherings.
