Comedians can make you laugh, but if they decide, they can also make you cry. And one such beautiful character was played by comedy king Raja Babu in Karunamayudu reminisces Vijaya Chander.
It is a known fact that Vijaya Chander’s Karunamayudu which released in 1982 was a huge hit. In the film, Raja Babu played a blind leper who is healed by Jesus Christ.
Apparently, the original plan was to get some serious character artiste to play the role. But Raja Babu who was at the fag end of his career had asked Vijaya Chander for a role and when the latter expressed doubts about a comedian doing it, Raja Babu is said to have assured him that he would leave the audience in tears.
And he did leave the audience in tears, says Vijaya Chander. Even today, Karunamayudu is aired during Christmas time.
The film is a landmark in his career and one of the biggest hits.
